Celebrating a love that's stood the test of time

Join us as Mr and Mrs Akano renew their vows, honoring nearly 50 beautiful years together

50 Years of Love and Counting

Almost 50 years ago, a young woman was living with her aunt and uncle. She ran errands, unknowingly catching the eye of a certain someone. He noticed her one day and couldn’t let the moment pass. Eager to know more, he asked around and learned of her connection to her uncle and aunt.

Without hesitation, he went directly to her family and asked for her hand. That bold first step led to a lifelong commitment and a love story that continues to grow with each passing year.

Now, decades later, they’re celebrating their journey together—a bond that has stood the test of time and remains as strong as ever.

Timeless Devotion

Reflections & Blessings

My favorite memory in my relationship with my father is in regular encouragement to me to work hard and live honestly. Several examples emphasize this fact. An flagship example is in a letter he wrote to me in my final year in the university. The phrase “100 years is not forever” stuck out to me in that letter. Growing up, my father also routinely told me usually ,either when scolding me for a wrong doing or to galvanize me to good behavior that ” it is a man’s pocket that is handsome, and not the man”. Those words still ring true today.

For my mum, her disciplinary ways while we were growing up, and being the first “check-point” to remove any misbehavior we might have shown as children stands out as one of my fond memories in my relationship with her. Those disciplinary efforts truly helped in molding me and my siblings character and personalities. While I usually joke with my children and siblings about my mum’s tough stand on several things while I was growing up, I have borrowed and applied a lot of my mum’s disciplinary measures and stand in raising my own children, and often tell them that this grandma they are loving up on now was not this soft in my growing-up years.
